Teresa Iwashita plays piano, flute, guitar, ukulele, upright bass and dances hula, but it is the flute that she is most passionate about. She started playing flute in the 7th grade initially taking lessons from Ed Kanaya and then Jean Harling, continuing with Jean Harling for many years, and most recently taking lessons from Sabrina Saiki-Mita. She attended the University of Hawaii studying music at the same time as Aileen Kawakami and Jeri Evans but left to pursue a professional career in Waikiki as a musician and hula dancer. Teresa is very excited to join the board of the Hawaii Flute Society and bring her resources and energy to serve this inspirational organization in promoting various flute opportunities to Hawaii’s flute players and especially Hawaii’s flute students.
